The departure of the Hydaspes on Thursday night afforded the Harhor Board’s tug boat Lyttelton a fair chance to exhibit its power, Ibo ship was taken in tow at eight o’clock by the steamer , a strong N.E. wind blowing at the time, and the speed attained going out of the harbor against an equally strong flood tide was 3i knots. Outside the beads tins speed was increased to 4 knots, the ship having her lower topsails loosed and aback, and against a heavy sea. The Lyttelton took her out seven miles from the beads, when suddenly the 12-inch hawser snapped close to the ship, so great was the strain upon it. The broken Bowser was hauled on board the steamer, and the ship loosed her sails, and proceeded on her voyage.
