The “ Athemeum” says that the Bodleian Library has just acquired a contemporary MS. of Hooker’s fifth book of “Ecclesiastical Polity,” with marginal notes and references to a printed edition of the book (perhaps the quarto edition, which is not in the Bodleian Library). This is believed to be the only known MS, of Hooker’s book. It has on the first page the signature of [John Whitgift], Archbishop of Canterbury.
