Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places aa under, subject to the necessary alterations!— , WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12. For Northern Ports of Now Zealand, Sydney and Brisbane, per Wakatipu, at 3 p.iu.; late fee letters, 3 20 p.m. j lata letter box, guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (specially addressed letters only), India, China, the East, Australian Colonies, and Otago, per Arawata, at 3 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.20 p.m.; late letter box, guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. Money orders, at 1 p.m. Registered letters, books, and newspapers at 2 p.m. The mail via Brindisi will he duo in London on May sth, and the mail via Southampton on May Supplementary mails for the United Kingdom and Australian Colonies will be closed at Christchurch on Thursday, March 13th, at 7.30 a.m,, for despatch, per express, to connect with s.s. Arawata at Port Chalmers. Lette-s, bearing nn extra fee of 2d, may he posted in the travelling post-ofiico attached to the express train on the 13th mst. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will he closed at Christchurch on Friday, March 28th, and will be due in London on May l3th * SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
