[By Telegraph.] Nelson, March 8 Tho champion matches are over. The rifio champion is W. Ballinger, of Wellington, with a score of 191. The second highest was Hutehinson, of Otago, 11)0, and tLc third highest, Smith, of < ta:,<o, 180. The carbine champion is Gordon, tin second highest Mapp, of Chrtstchureh. The two tied for the champion belt with 102 points each. To decide the tie they had to fire five shots each at the long rame, Gordon making IG, Mapp 13. Many of the crack shots foil off at the last range, owing, it is presumed, to the change of light, as the sun went round Okeyand Smith tied for third place for the rifle belt. After five shots each they tied with 13. They fired five shots again, Smith winning with 18, Okey 13 February 10. J I J- hooting began at half-past eight with the carbine «ud rifle, North v. South matches. The carbine match was won by the North Island by seven poi; ts, Gordon, Thames, being the highest scorer and taking the Cup for the year.
