[per press agency.] Wellington, March 10. Asleep on Duty. One of the Warwick's crow was charged th morning before the Magistrate's Curt with being found twice asleep on the voyage while on look-out duty. He was sentenced to four weeks' imprisonment. The mau pleaded that he had been forty-eight hours' without sleep. Ihe magistrate said that he could not allow that to influence him as the sailor by his negligence endangered the safety of 250 persons, and that gave the offeme a very grave aspect. If the man had insufficient sleep he should have appealed to the master of the vessel. [from our own correspondent.] Invercargill, March 10. Mr Conyers was hearti y welcomed by his old friends on Saturday afternoon. He left this morning for a short stay about Queenstown. The garrison band give a free concert, with a collection, for the Kaitangata fund to-night.
