Handicap Hurdle Face, a sweep of 5 sovs. each, h. ft., with 100 added. About two miles. Jack Tar 1 Welshman 2 larrikin 3 Eleven started. The race was won easily. Corinthian Cup, a piece of plate, value 150 boys., added to a welter handicap sweepstakes of 5 sovs. each, 1 ft. For 3 yrs old and upwards. Lowest we'ght to be not less thah 10st. To be ridden by members of the Victoria Racing Club Amateur Turf Club, or Melbourne Hunt Club. One mile and a half and a distance. Hotspur 1 Cowaree 2 Carlisle 3 Hotspur won by a neck. Sires’ Produce Stakes, of 10 sovs. each, h. ft. J: or then *2 yrs old —colts, Bst 101 b; fillies, Bst 71b. No allowance to geldings. Second horse to receive 10 per cent, on the gross amount of the stake. Three-quarte. s of a mile. Petrea 1 Hamilton 2 Petrea won easily. Australian Cup, a sweepstake of 20 sovs. each, 10 ft., or 5 if declared, with 300 added. For 5 yrs old and upwards. The winner of any handicap of the value of 100 sovs. after the declaration of the weights to carry 3 lb extra; of two or more such races, 5 lb extra. The second horse to receive 50 sovs., and the third 20 sovs. out of the stake. Two miles and a quarter. Mr H. Power’s hr g Savanaka, 4 yrs, Kingston —Sappho, 7st 101 b 1 Mr E. Jellett’s b c Bosworth, 3 yrs, Maribyrnong—Fawn. 7st 101 b 2 Mr C. M. Lloyd’s br h Swiveller, 4 yrs, Snowden—Little Nell, Bstlolb 3 This was a fine race. Time 4min. 4secs. A jockey named Boyd was killed by being thrown in the hurdle race. The Grand Stand Stakes, a sweepstakes of 10 sovs. each, h. ft., with 200 added. For 3 yrs old and upwards. Weight for age. The winner of any race of the value of 100 sovs. to carry slb extra; if of 200 sovs. 7 lb extra ; or if of 300 sovs., 101 b extra ; if of 400 sovs., or over, 14 lb extra. Once round the course. Monarque 1 Le Loup 2 This race was won by only half a head. Time, 2min. 20 secs. Seven ran.
