THE DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLXJB RICES. Secokd Day. [By Telegraph.] [prom our special reporter.] Dunedin, February 28. The stewards were again favored with charming weafher for the aepond day<s yacing, and the on the whole, was excellent. The fttt ndwas very large, and in short it was iu all a yery successful day. As is usually the case here, the Hurdle Eace, which opened the ball, was a very good one. Six faced the starter, and only 6 to i on the field was obtainable, with a slight preference for the Agent, who justified the opinion of his backers by winning pretty easily from Eversley. Kildare. who made most of the running, was third, and Te Whetu next. Dalesman, who was carrying two stone overweight, fell at the first hurdle, and Loyalty refused the third obstacle, thus losing what chance he m*y have had. The Leger was a very poor match Nemo and York,' the former was favorite, and after a good waiting race won easily from his oldopponent. Maritaua being an absentee, pnly four went to the post for the Railway Plate. Here Fishhook made quite an example of his opponents. The most formidable of them appeared to be Chancellor. Titania disappointed her backers, and could only just get into a place from Vampire. The Novel Eace was literally run away with by Numa, who i 3 bought to go to Canterbury. In the Eailway Plate Fishhook was again backed up very warmly at 2 to 1 on him, and again he won very easily at the finish from Maritana. The Slander colt did not come up to expectation, not even running into a place, while Adamant was again unfortunate. 1 append details: — Handicap Hurdle Eace of 80 sovs j the sscond horse to receive 10 sov3 from the stakes; nomination 2 sovs; acceptance 2 eovs; two miles and a distance, over 10 flights of hurdles, 3ft.
