The steamer Tni, Captain Wills, arrived at four o’clock yesterday afternoon from Wellington, Waipapa, Kuiknru, Amur i Bluff, and Core Bay. She left Wellington at midnight on the 24th. _ . The barque John Knox, Captain Davis, amvea hence at Sydney on Febrnary 11th. The W. C. Wentworth arrived at Newcastle February loth. The C. S. Bushnell and Especulador reached there on the following day. The Elizabeth for here left Newcastle on the 13th inst. ~ . , The s.s. Hawea, on her return tnp North, is due from Port halraers to-morrow morning, and will leave for Auckland via Wellington and other ports in the afternoon. The ship Waikato. Captain Worster, had the last of her cargo stowed on Wednesday afternoon, and yesfei'day morning was towed into the stream ready to leave for London. Passengers are requested to be on hoard not later than this evening. The ship Mary Galbraith, of the S.S. and Co. and Albion line, is expected at this port from Auckland to load for London. , . A Porwegian arque, tho Pager, 821 tons, Captain Albrethseu, sailed from Hobart Town for this port on February 19th, with 77,800 palings, 166,500 shingles, 59,000 ft. timber. The barque Lois, at this port some years ago in command of Captain Lewis, arrived an Sydney on the 6th inst. from Mauritius, When off Ham Head she fell in with the missing boat belonging to the wrecked steamer Kerangie. There were nine men la her, who were taken on to Sydney. . The question of the legal power of a Marine Board in these colonies to hold an enquiry on a foreign vessel with reference to a casualty occurring in the waters of the colony in hich the Board exists has been raised in Adelaide in order to ascertain the authority of the Marine Board of that port. The case in question is the stranding of the Batavia, barque, of Holsinborg, which stranded in St. Vincent’s Gulf on 19th nit. The Government law officers have given an opinion favorable to the power of the Board to hold an enquiry, which has taken place. Tho barque Corinna, tho Charlotte Grant, and the Huntress arrived at Newcastle onthe 15th inst. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Tauranoa, February 27. Ne doubt is expressed now about the floating of the Taupo when sufficiently lightened. The men are working up to their middle in water, and can only take oat twenty tons of coal per day. The pumps are working well, and the weather is fine. Port Chalmers, February 27. Arrived—Hawea from Lyttelton. Sailed—Hinemoa for Cape Saunders. Invercargill, February 28, Arrived—Albion, from Dunedin.
