Sydney, February 27. W. H. Cooper, barrister, has been committed for trial on a charge of assaulting J. H. Henton, proprietor of the “ Evening Sailed— Northampton, ship, for Lyttelton 5 City of Sydney, for Auckland. Melbourne, February 27. Lord Normanby and suite landed at Sandridge at eight o’clock to-night, and were received by a large number of officials and a guard of honor, in the presence of a large number of people. They immediately proceeded to Government House, where the Chief Judge administered the oath in the presence of the Colonial Treasurer, Chief Secretary, Attorney-General, Minister of Lands and Agriculture, Poetmaster-General, Commissioner of Railways and Roads, and Minister of Mines. The Governor met with a cordial reception.
