PAROCHIAL FLOWER SHOW.

Tho first children’s flower show in connection with St, Mary’s Sunday School, Addington, was held in the schoolroom yesterday, and was a great success, more so than its promoters had anticipated. A show for cottagers was also held at the same time on one side of the room, but called forth but little competition, yet many articles were sent for exhibition only. Turning to tho children’s show, a very keen competition was observed. Those exhibits most worthy of mention were fuchsias, geraniums, (ferns, and lobelias in pots, and also the vegetables. Tho cut flower class was not so well represented, but the few that were shown were good specimens. Much interest had evidently been taken in the articles for the fancy work class, for many of the exhibits showed good work, chief among which were some specimens of wool work and knitting and darning. Messrs Nairn and Sons furnished a largo stand for exhibition only, as also did Mr John Ashton, with great effect. The judges for tho fancy work and bouquets were Mesdames Hall, East, and Pratt; and for the rest of the exhibits, the Rev. Herbert East and Messrs Ashton and Nairn. The result of the show being so gratifying, its promoters have decided to make ir, an annual institution in tho p wish. Doubtless, next, year, ihere will bo a more extensive show than yesterday’s, many of the school children having hardly realised the object of the proposal submitted to them for this occasion. But, judging the show as a whole, there can be no doubt that much good will accrue to most of those who have taken part in it
