DUNEDIN TRAINING NOTES. [By Telegraph.] [from our own correspondent.] Dunedin, February 25. Tlio weather this morning was rather unfavourable for training, a good deal of ram falling, while last night’s downpour had made the going very heavy. The horses worked on the extreme outside of the course, to avoid cutting up the inner running. Mata went three miles, and was a good deal hlovrn at the finish. Titania a n d Milo went a couple of rounds together, the mare, however, clearing out from her companion at the finish, Templeton, Maritana, and Sinking Fund went two miles m company at t hrce - Quarter speed, all going well. York and Chancehor started at the distance post, and finished two rounds Playboy joining in for the last mile. Lampooner did not show up, having bceu thrown out of work. Fishhook had Imiitroon for a companion at the commencement of a two mile spin, hut Laertes joined in at half a mile, and brought the Cup horse home. Fishhook is looking better than when he came down, but is not, I think, up *o his form of two years ago. Te Whetumarama went two wiles at fair speed, and the Agent also did steady work. O’Brien took the opportunity of Vampire’s going a coup'e of miles, and sen* Fenella the Champagne distance with the little horse, tho filly’s time for the three quarters
of a mile being Imin. 289ecs. Cloth of Qoldw. s sent twice round, Dead Heat coming home the last mile with him. f Jhe chesnut went very well indeed. Benjiroo went by himself a similar distance. Numa. Boadicea, and Blue Peter did steady work singly, Webb treated Dundee and Adamant to a mi e pretty fast. Kildare, Dalesman, and bhillelagh did a strong gallop, but wore not taken over the hurdles. Camballo, I Was informed, worked on the beach. Eversley and Huntiogdon were sent by Mason two miles at a good pace. Foul Play and Nemo went two rounds, Marie Antoinette joining them at the three-quarter mile post and finishing with them. Zenohia and some others of the lesser lights did unimportant work. There was con-ideictble activity in the bett.ng market to day, and the horses mo;t in favor were backed for considerable sums. As a consequence of Chancellor, Fishhook, Titania, Camballo, and others being accorded suepor;, Templeton receded a point or two, and 200 to 34 was actually laid against him. Chance lor was backed for =Bdoo at about 7 to 4. and Fishhook was so persistently invested on that he is now quoted at 100 to 14. Titania is firm at about the same price, an,d Camballo finds plenty of friends at 100 to 12. Mata is still under a cloud, and 100 to 10 is offered against him without a respose.
