South District— Lieut, Miller, Sergt. Kennedy, Corporals Mills and Duncan. Naval Brigade—P. 0. Jack, Noith Dun-din—Corporal Waugh, Sergt. Richardson, Privates Wider, T. Hutchinson. Portobeilo—Private McCartney. [PEE PEBBB AGENCY.] Kumara, February 25. A public meeting has been called for Friday by the Mayor, to take steps relative to those bereaved through the explosion at the Kaitaugata Colliery. A requisition has been signed by the clergy of all denominations and the public generally. The greatest sympathy is expressed for the widows and orphans. Several of the killed are known hero. Wellington, February 25. The Masterton School Committee returns Messrs Henderson, Stock, and Fitzherbert for the Education Board. Bishop Redwood, at Masterton yesterday, inspected the new church, which will be completed in about six weeks. This morning an elderly man, of the supposed name of O’Brien, w T as killed instantaneously by the failing of a tree at Murray, Te Ore-ore. A meeting of master printers including Mr Didsbury, the Government printer, was held last night, at which a resolution was passed that henceforward the Wellington Typographical Society be no longer recognised, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the secretary of the Society. Compositors have been engaged by the Wellington newspaper proprietors, and are now on their way from various parts of the colony, so that in the event of the holding out against the masters no great inconvenience will be experienced, and the papers will be published as usual.
