THE AFGHAN WAR.

£BY SUBMARINE CABLE.] fBBTJTEB'3 SPECIAL TO PBESS AGBNCY.]. King G-KOBaß'a Sound, February 24. The following is a summary of the Afghan news per Assam: —

General Roberts' victory on the 7th February was a complete one; 360 of the enemy were killed. The frontier tribes are troublesome, especially the Khyberß. It is difficult to properly punish them.

A band of Lazers crossed into British territory, and plundered. They were pursued and completely cut to pieces. It appears that Russia has dissuaded Shore Ali against going to St. Petersburgh, and all assistance has been refused him.

Before leaving Cabul Shere Ali exacted an oath of allegiance from Yakoob Khan.

The Kohistanees have endeavored to plunder Cabul, but all is now quiet every* where, the punishment having had a salutary effect.
