The s.s. Oreti cleared at the Customs this morning for Mannkan, via Wellington and intermediate ports, and will sail this evening. The barqne Evanell, for Guam, also cleared this morning. The brigantine reported in this morning’s Press as having anchored last night at the Heads is the Isabella. She was beating np the harbour when onr messenger left port. The departures this morning were—the Spray, for Wellington; Reward, for Picton; and Josephine, for Auckland.

The s.s. Oreti, Captain MeArthnr, a handy sized vessel built at Dunedin a year ago for Messrs H. Houghton and Co., for the coasting trade, arrived at noon yesterday, eighteen hours from Oamaru. She left Port Chalmers at 4 a.m. Saturday, arrived at Oamarn at 10,30, and for the first time since she ■was launched sailed northward from the latter port, leaving at six in the evening. For a vessel of her size the accommodation provided for passengers is very commodious and comfortable. She has been employed between Port Chalmers and Invercargill, but it is intended if sufficient inducement is mot with to run her as far north as Mannkan, calling at the intermediate West Coast ports. Her register tonnage is 117, and her draught when loaded 7ft 6in. She will sail this evening for Wellington. The s.s. Wansika, Captain McGillivray, from Port Chalmers via Akirori, arrived at 4 p.m. on Saturday. She left the former port at 1.45 p.m. on Friday, Akaroa at 11 o’clock on Saturday morning. In coming round the Peninsula an unusually rough head sea was met with. Sixty tons of cargo was discharged, and about the same quantity for Northern ports taken in. She sailed for Auckland via Wellington nnd East Const ports, with a full passenger list, at 11 o’clock on Saturday night. The Union Steamship Company gives notice in the time table of its steamers that all berths must he secured at the office.
