NEW ZEALAND. [per PRESS AGENCY.] Wellington, February 23. The Eoyal Commission appointed to inquire into matters relating to the electoral roll .at the Bay of Islands will commence its sitting at Bussell on the 6th of March. Mr J. Grey, who reported the inquiry last session before the Select Committee on N«Five Affairs, leaves for the North on Monday, to produce his shorthand notes of evidence before the Commission. He will also act as official shorthand writer to the Commission. , Certain complaints having been made to Government respecting the acceptance of tenders amounting to about J 63000 for repairs and furniture at Government House and Government Buildings, a commission will bo appointed to tako evidence and report on the circumstances. Mr John Kebbell, a very old settler in this province, was found dead on his verandah about five this morning. The supposed cause is a fit of apoplexy, [from our own correspondent.] Dunedin, February 22. The Cromwell Quartz Company sent into Cromwell a cake containing 52 A ouncos from 470 tons.
