Money is becoming scarce in the open market. The accumulation of gold in the Bank contimaes. The reserve is fifteen and a half millions. The stock markets are unsettled. Consols have been affected by the African disaster. The market for Australian securities suffered somewhat, in sympathy with other descriptions of stock. The New Zealand Agricultural Company, premoted by Sir J. Vogel and Mr Larnach, was floated with difficulty, despite the oppoeition of the "Times." Of the first issue of half a million, £300,000 was subscribed. The corn market is inactive. Kecent shipments of New Zealand have been of inferior quality.
[BPKCIAL TO GLOBE.] Since the disaster with the Zulus, the British have been victorious, and Natal is safe. English brandy firm. Australian tallow quiet. Australian wheat ex Argonaut is selling at 475. Mutton, finest tallow, 38s; inferior beef, 32s to 335.
