This order was maintained for a mile and three quarters, when they ran close together, Kikiki then fell astern, the other two running a neck and neck race almost to the post. Finally, Lomond won by half a length, Blue Bell a good second. Kikiki three lengtns behind. Time—2 min. 24secs. Racing Club Handicap of £SO. Nomination, £1 ; acceptance, £3. Distance 1| miles. Treason got away first, Rata followed, and Banker next, Grey Momus well in the rear They ran in this order for a third part of the distance, when Banker and Rata drew up, and took the lead from Treason at the lower end. Grey Momus went up to Rata, and there was a capital race round, Grey Momus wiuning by a length. Time, 3 mins. 24.] secs. DUNEDIN TRAINING NOTES. [prom our own correspondent.] Dunedin, February 20. The Forbury presented an animated appearance this morning, the mild weather allowing of more horses than usual workirg. Pay was out first with Sinking Fund and Maritana, whom he sent twice round at a medium pace. Templeton and Titania then started at the distance post, and completed another round, but neither ’ivas fairly extended, the last mile occupying 2 mins. 1 sec. York and Chancellor went a mile at half-pace, and were followed by Lampooner and Playboy, who covered about the same distance. Lampooner subsequently did the Champagne distance in company with Fenella and the Slander colt. The last two shaped very well, but they could scarcely have been going their fastest, as the three-quarters of a mile took Imin. 30secs. Fishhook had a g'ood striding gallop twice round, going quite in his old form, and Te Whetumarama went a similar journey. Minnie aud Duntroon were treated to two miles. Boadicea worked alone, but Blue Peter and Nnmawere sent together It is hard to say what distance they went as King Phillip. Tommy and other horses were going round at the same time, and the lot got a little mixed up. King Phillip was evidently being driven along, his rider warming him. up with a switch. '1 he only horses of Smith’s beam that I saw working were Dead Heat and Vain pire, who had a long sweat. The Agent and Laertes were on the ground, but were merely walked about, and the same was done by Eversley and Caraballo. Webb gave Adamant and i nr.d e a mile spin. Both colts look well, and ihe two-year-old shaped in a manner that promi—s well for his proving a worthy brother to Danebury. There is plenty of life in the betting market, but nearly all the transactions are on the 1 up. For this event Templeton still holds first place, though Chancellor runs him closely, while Titania aud Mata are both quoted at short prices. Since the scratching of Natator there has been a strong demand for Fishhook, who was for a time quoted as high as sto 1. He has, howev r, now gone back to a more reasonable figure. Caraballo remains firm at about 8 to 1, and Nemo came this morning with a bit of a rush. This colt touched for a time 100 to 12 or 14 but money can be got about him at a longer price. The following are quotations ; 5 to 1 agst Templeton Cto 1 ~ Chancellor 7to 1 „ Titania Bto 1 ~ Fishhook Bto 1 „ Mata 100 to 12 „ Caraballo 100 to 9 ~ Nemo 100 to 6 ~ Vampire 100 to 5 ~ Cloth of Gold 100 to 4 ~ Venus Transit 100 to 4 ~ Sinking Fund 100 to 4 „ York 100 to 4 ~ Fallacy 100 to 4 „ King Phillip 100 to 3 ~ any other ENTRIES FOR THE SYDNEY CUP.
