CROSSING AT COLOMBO STREET.
To the Editor of the (Hole, g IE —The Kaiapoi people complain about the railway crossing at Kaiapoi, and seem to be of opinion that unless some individual of note is injured, owing to the want of proper arrangements on the part of the “ powers that be,” there will be nothing done to remedy the evil. I think that, while it would bo desirable that the arrangements at Haiapoi should be altered, it would he a boon to those who are in the habit of crossing the railway at Colombo street if some measures wore taken before the winter nights set in to render the vehicle and passenger traffic more secure in that locality. Unless this is done, we may hear of some of the Sydenham Borough Councillors coming to grief, and then it may be seen to. It will only be the old story of locking the stable door after the horse it stolen. Yours, Ac., SYDENHAM.
