CRICKET.
To the Editor of the Glohe. SlB, —I was much interested in your leader of the 12th, upon the prospects of cricket generally—advising the desirability of looking well after the colts. The purport of my letter is to draw your attention to the fact that, last season, there was some correspondence with the secretary for the Association respecting the practicability of the first eleven playing twenty-two colts—the moot promising players from the various local clubs. Suppose two, or more, as the number required, from the Hagley Oak, Woolston, Eastern, Sunnyside, Papanui, St. Crispin’s, &c., &c. I think the idea only wants publicity, and, with judicious selection and good management, a twenty-two might be procured who would give the cricketing world an estimate of your recommendation,—and, if I mistake not, would try the metal of the chosen eleven much more than their Otago opponents. Yours, &c., H.O. Addington.
