Mb Mbohi on the Utilization of SewaGß —Mr Mechi, writing on the 28th of November, says —Pacts in confirmation of the advantages of Be*age utilization are rapidly accumulating. Mr Alexander Aird, who has successfully utilised the sewage of Dantsic for seven years, seuds me a glowing account of the crops grown on what was once a barren Bind. He has also just contracted with the municipality of Bre.dau (200,000 inhabitants) to utilise for twelve years, on 3000 acres, the whole of the sewage of that city. He says that in Berlin the sewage irrigation system has already proved a great success, and that all the larger towns in Germany are pre paring to carry out the Bame system. The Danttic sswaged landshave this year produced crops of all kinds exceeding those on the good lands-potatoes, 16£ tons per acre; white carrots, 14£ tons per acre. Our Metropolitan Board of Works, some seven years ago, granted the whole of the sewage of London n >rih of the Tunnies for fifty years to a company under an Act of Parliament. I hear that a committee of that Board are now inquiring why that contract has remained for seven years a dead letter. The " Academy " thinks the Engli-h public -ill le-.rn *ith interest that there exists in a Swiss library an album which contains an autographic entry of John Milton's. It is trie album of one Johannes Z illikofer, which has found its way into the Vadian library in St. Gall. '
