Rewi is at Otuanui at present, making a round of visits amongst the Taupo Natives. His object, as far as can be ascertaned, is to establish his old boundary against European intruders. This boundary lino extends from Maungatatu, in the Waikato, to Horl oro, nea Estonia; thence to the Tutau; then-o to Jvlangaiti on Lake Taupo; an! thence across the ake to Waihi, the kainga of the groat chief T' hututu. The local Natives of Taupo view Pewi’s visit with some doubt and suspicion, but, ns the Government appear to place implicit ooulldon e in his attitude, they defer at present the expression of any decided opinion, aud hope that good may result. Kewi is shortly to hold a meeting of all the Taupo Natives at Poukara, the head centre of Taupo Hauhauism, when his proposals may assume more definite shape.
