Probable candidates for the presidency:— Q-revy, President of the Chamber of Deputies ; Admiral Pothuau, Minister of Marino and the Colonies. In a letter Marshall Macmahon resigned presidency. The Senate and the Chamber of Deputies were specially convoked to elect his successor. Evening. Q-revy was elected by a large majority, and proclaimed President of the Republic for seven years.
