Bidmead and E. O’Connell. The ship Opawa sailed this morning for London. The Wanaka came in from Port Chalmers at half-past eight o’clock this moi ning, and will leave for Auckland, via East Feast ports, this afternoon. The brigantine Helena proceeded on her voyage to Oamarn this morning. The barque Vindex from Newcastle, and the brig Firefly, came np the harbor last evening, and anchored off the breakwater. The U S.S Co’s Wanaka, from Port Chalmers, is dne this morning, and will leave this afternoon for Auckland via East Coast ports. The Tanpo should arrive this eveni"g from Wellington, and leave for Akaroa and Port Chalmers to-morrow (Sunday) morning. AEMVAL OK THE NORTHEEN MONARCH’ This vessel anchored nt nine o’clock this morning, ninety-two days from Plymouth She is a new ship, in command of Captain Ransom, and has on board three hundred and fifty-five Government immigrants. The Health and Immigration Officers ■went off to her at. eleven o’clock, and immediately they arrived within hailing distance of the ship the yellow (quarantine) flag was hoisted nt the masthead. The officials had not returned to port when cur messenger left, so that nothing definite is known ns to the cause of the vessel being placed in quarantine. Messrs Edwards, Benu tt„ and Co are her agents. La er. The health officer, Dr. Erase, reports that during the past month there have been 22 cases of measles under treatment by the ship’s doctor, and since nine deaths have occurred under eight years. All the deaths excepting one were from hronchritis succeeding the measles. Up to within a few days the unfortunate epidemic had disappeared, bnt unluckily two cases s t in since, considering which the health officer deemed it necessary to place the vessel in quarantine. Dr. Eonse states he made nu inspection of the several compartments, and found them exceptionally cleanly.
