FATAL MINING ACCIDENT NEAR HAVELOCK.
[Special Wire] Blbniibim, January 28. News arrived this afternoon from Wakamarina that a tunnel at Mountain Camp creek fell in, burying three men John Sweeny, Robert Diamont, and Wm, Dorset. It is not known yet whether they are all ' killed. The miners are working hard to release them. The doctor from Havelock went 1 immediately to the scene. • Later. A telegram this evening from the " Ex- ' press " correspondent at Havelock re the ! mining accident says that Sweeny and Dia- • mont are both dead. Dorset is still living, but is badly injured. Latest. The miners only succeeded in extricating Dorset at dark last night. He was much injured, but is improving. Diamont was choked by the pressure of the slab against his neck, although the relief miners worked desperately to get at him.
