Single Women ex " Waieato."—The Immigration Officer wishes it to be known that not more than six single women are at the depot at Addington for engagement. Of those that were on board the " Waikato," thirty-two were destined for Titnaru, and the others have loft with their friends. The "Northern Monarch :' is now duo, and persons who have applied for servants will have their names kept on the list.

De. Donald's Testimonial. —The list of persons to whom subscriptions may be sent for the testimonial to Dr. Donald will be found in an advertisement.

Christian Conkeeence. —The above co 11 " forence was held in tho Odd Fellows' Hall, and commenced with a prayer meeting, this morning at 7 o'clock, when nearly 200 persons were present. Tho meeting at 11 o'clock was also well attended, when addresses wore delivered by the Eevs. E. Walker and Chas. Dallaston, others also taking part in the proceedings. A bible reading took place this afternoon at 3 oYlock, Mr Varley presiding on each occasion. This evening Mr Varley delivers his farewell address, and is to speak at Timaru to-morrow evening. Supreme Couet.—The case of Henderson v the Napier Harbor Board was resumed yesterday when, after tho opening of tho defence by Mr Macaesev, throe witnesses were examined for tho defendant. Mr Weber, the engineer to the Board, was under examination when the Court rose tit 6 p.m.

Unitbd Ancient Ordbr ofDbuidb.—The members of tho Pioneer Lodge, No. 47 mot last night at their Lodge room, Wellington Hotel, Tuam Btreot, there being a fair attendance, Bro. Rose presiding. The usual routine business having been disposed of, the new pass-word was given to the members. Several candidates were then proposed for membership. A vote of thanks was accorded by the lodgo to Bro. W. Samuels upon his retiring from the office of treasurer. Aftor the usual harmony, the lodge closed in due form at 10 p m. The Hospital Concert.—The proceeds of tho late concert given for the purpose of raising a fund for the benefit of dogtit;uto patients leaving the Hospital, and also for providing the means of additional recreation for those remaining r there, have exceeded the most sanguine expectations of its promoters. The receipts, when all the money is got in, together with subscriptions that have been contributed by sympathisers with the object, will amount to about £3OO. The expenditure of this fund will be in the hands of the concert committee, consisting of the' housesurgeon and some of the members of the medical staff. Law Society.—The members of the Canterbury Law Society held their annual dinner at Morton's Hotel on Saturday evening. In tho absence of Mr T. S. Duncan, the president of the society, the chair was occupied by Dr. Foster. Amongst the guests were his Honor Mr Justice Johnston, the Attorney-G-eneral, Messrs Rees, Mr Do Lautour, and some other gentlemen, who were welcomed by a full muster of the Canterbury bar. The customary toasts were, with the exception of her Majesty, dispensed with, and instead thereof, after an excellent speech from his Honor, tho evening was enlivened by a plentiful supply of vocal music. The catering, as might be expected, was all that could be desired.
