The steamers to sail this evening are :—The Star of the South, for Wellington and West Coast ports, the Tui, for Kaikonra and Wellington, and the Wallabi, for Wanganui. The smart origautiue Eliza Firth, Capt. Stephens, left Hokitika on the 9th instant, had fine weather and light S.W. winds till abreast of Caps Campbell on Sat arday, thence to Godleyjlload Lighthouse rain with light changeable airs continuing until Monday, when a gale from the S.W. came on, lasting all day, thence light winds and lino weather to arrival. Capt. Newman, the newly appointed commander of the steamer Kingarooma, with his chief officer, Mr Webster, on the arrival of the steamer at Melbourne, had the gratification of being made the recipients of flattering addresses and a pnrse of sovereigns by the passengers who travelled with them this trip from New Zealand, as a token of their esteem for the kindness shown during the passage. The presentation was made on New Tear’s eve.—“ Age.”
