New Reapeb and Binder.—Mr Edward Reece, of Colombo street, has on view a new reaper and binder, which he has recently imported, but unfortunately it arrived too late to be entered for competition at the forthcoming reaper and binder contest on the 16th instant. The one in question which was com« pleted being put together two days ago is called the "Edward Harvester," and is manufactured at the St. Paul Harvester Company, Minnesota, U.S. The advantages specially claimed for this implement are simplicity and efficiency, an absence of unnecessary or complex gear, which thereby lessens the probability of its getting out of order. The tension of the wire is different to the other harvesters in the field, and the mode of throwing in and out of gear, which requires one simple movement by the driver, is more direct. An experimental working of the implement done by hand was very satisfactory, the binding being done in the most effective manner, and the sheaf landed on the butt. An inspection of the Edward Harvester will at once render its •ificiency obvious. Municipal Offices. —The committee appointed by the Council at their last ordinary meeting met last evening to consider the whole question of the new Municipal offices. They, with the city surveyor, inspected the only available sites, and decided upon the most suitable for the purpose. It was decided to recommend to the council, at its next meeting, to call for competitive designs, and award prizes for the first and second bost. The committee satisfied themselves that the requisite office accommodation for suitable Municipal offices could be obtained from the area decided on as suitable. It was determined, as ample space could be had for the building, in connection with the offices, of a Magistrate's Court and Town Hall, to recommend that application be made to the Government for so much of the land adjoining the Council's property as might be required for the ereotion of I he said Court and Hall.
