MAGISTRATE’S COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday, January 9. [Before Or. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] A Comprehensive Charge. Henry Marten was brought up charged with being drunk and disorderly, riotous behaviour iu a licensed house, and refusing to go away when told, and also with wilfully and obscenely exposing himself in a public place. The riotous behaviour complained of took place in the Bush Inn, where accused on the afternoon of tho previous day got intoxicated, and the indecent exposure was tho consequence. The witnesses were tho barman, Henry Haydon, and a jockey named John McCoy, who clearly sheeted the offences home to the accused, who was adjudged guilty. For the drunkenness and riotous behaviour a fine of 20s was imposed, while for the indecent exposure tho accused was sent to prison for fourteen days’ with hard labor. LYTTELTON. Thursday, January 9.
