POST OFFICE NOTICES
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as tmder, subject to the necessary alterations SATURDAY, JANUARY t. For Northern Ports, Hokitika, Greymoutli and Australian Colonies, per Hawea. at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.35 p.m,; lata letter box, guard’s van, 1 p.m. train. For Akaroa and Otago, per Wanaka, at 11.25 a.in.; late fee letters, 11.85 a.m.; late letter box guard’s van 12.10 p.m. train. For the Chatham Islands, per Omaha, on Wednesday, January 11th, at 11.30 a.m. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, will close at this office on January 15th. The mail via Southampton will be due in Loudon on March 17th, and the mail via Brindisi on March 10th, 1879. A post-office has been opened at View Hill, Oxford district. Mails close at Christchurch on Wednesday and Saturday at 6 a.m., and arrive at Christchurch on the same days at 7.30 p.m. BVDNEY J.DICK, Chief Postmaster
