MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, December 28, [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M.] Deunk and Disorderly.- John Short, Samuel A’Court and James John Dawry wore each fined ss. Larceny. —John Sweeney was charged with stealing the sum of £7 6s, the property of a fellow lodger at the Port Phillip Board-ing-house, Durham 'street. On tho application of the Inspector of Police, he was remanded until Tuesday, the 31st, Resisting the Police— Edgar Osborne was brought up on the triple charge of damaging a street lamp, the property of the City Council, resisting Constable Little who arrested him, and also damaging his clothing. The offences were committed on Christmas Day, and the delinquent was ordered to pay a fine of 20s, cab hire Is 6d, expenses of ono witness 10s, and 5s for the injuries to the constable’s uniform. LYTTELTON. Saturday, December 28. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.. and T, H. Potts, Esq., J.P..] Insanity. William Rowlands was committed to the lunatic asylum on the testimony of Dra. Macdonald and Rowee. Absent without Leave. —Geo. Andrews was reprimanded for this offence, and was ordered on board his ship, the Wallowdale.
