The Bulli Coal Company's miners have struck because a steamer belonging to the company arrived from Sydney with a Chinese crew. NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAMS. [pee kbess agency.] Auckland, December 26. Mr Buckland quotes fat cattle at prices irregular—2ss to 38s per lOOlbs. On the whole lower than last week by 2s 6d per hundred. Fat sheep : Small wethers, 31s 4d; sound ewes, from 2d. Dairy-fed pigs, 4d per lb. Wellington, December 26.
An attempt will be made to-night, at half-past eleven, when there will be a very high tide, to tow off the ship Hyderabad from Otaki Beach. All the cargo now out of her. H.M.S. Sappho arrived this morning, after a rapid passage under sail from Sydney. She has only come in to coal, and will proceed to England immediately after taking in a supply. Two men named Bichard Ryone and Henry Browne were capsized in a boat off Kaiapoi Biver and drowned.

A miner named Skalen committed suicide in a most determined manner last night. He placed the muzzle of a gun in bis mouth with a string on his big toe, pulled the trigger and blew the side of his head off. Eighty pounds was found on the body. It is supposed he was insane. Hokitika, December 26. The damage done by the floods will cost the county several thousand pounds. The approaches to the bridges are much damaged, and a large portion of Hungcrford Bridge has been carried away, so that traffic by that route will be stopped for weeks. There is no sign of the Christchurch coach, and fears are entertained that the Christchurch road is much damaged. The flood is now down. The races are postponed on account of the wet weather.
Large quantities of gold are selling to the Banks. The Waimea water race is fully employed, and if 50 more heads of water were available they would be used. It is reported that the storm channel overflowed at Eoss and flooded half the town, doing much injury. The holidays are completely spoiled by the continuous downpour of rain. Dunedin, December 26. The corner stone of tho second Primitive Methodht Church here was laid yesterday afternoon in the presence of a large assembly. [feom our own correspondents.] Auckland, December 56. Mr Bayley, of Auckland, is a pa?senger per Botorua, and takes a new centre-board sailing boat named The Toy for sailing races for the Lyttelton, Wellington, and Nelson regattas. Auckland Races. At Baklutha a boy eight years old, the son of Andrew Chapman, was drowned while playing beside a waterhole, caused by late floods, near main street. The Kelly and Leon Minstrels, on Christmas night, gave a successful entertainment, descriptive of slave time in America.
