POST OFFICE NOTICES

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to tho necessary alterations Wednesday, 25th hast. (Christmas day), being a Post office holiday, mails for despatch on that clay will be closed at this office on Tuesday, 24th, at 8 p.m. The delivery window will be open between 8 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, when correspondence usually delivered by letter carriers may he obtained. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26. For Northern ports, per Albion, at 11.30 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.50 a.m.; late letter-box, guard’s Tan, 12.10 p.m. train. The next mail for tho United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close at Christchurch on January 3rd, and will be due in London on February 18th, 1879. On and after 2nd January pros, there will be a free delivery of correspondence in the districts of Bt. Albans, Phillipstown, Bingsland, Caledonian road, Cashel street east, Knightstown, and Addington ; consequently the Post Offices at those places ■will bo discontinued, and receiving boxes, to bo cleared twice daily, will be substituted.
