MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, December 21. [Before G L. Lee, Esq.] Drunk and Disorderly.—G-. W. Ell was fined 10s.

Embezzlement.—Francis H. Talpy was charged with embezzling £6 4s, the property of the New Zealand Railway Employes Benefit Society. Messrs G-arrick and Cowlishaw prosecuted on behalf of the society, and Mr T. I. Joynt appeared for the accused. Sergeant Major Morico stated that accused was only apprehended at half-past nine o'clock the previous evening. On the application of Mr Cowlishaw the accused was remanded until Tuesday, the 21th inst., bail being allowed, the accused in his own recognizance of £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each. LYTIELTON. Saturday, December 21. (Before W. Dolaud, Esq., R.M.) Drunk. —John Kelly was mulcted in the usual amount for this offence, with the option of forty-eight hours' jail.
