POST OFFICE NOTICES

Mai la close at tho Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations : SATUEDAY, DECEMBEE 21, For Akaroa and Otago, per Taupo, at 11.30 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.50 a.m.; late letter box, guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Southern Cross, at 3.15 p.m.: late fee letters, 3,35 p.m,; late letter-box, guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Wanaka, at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters, 7 p.m. The next mail for the united Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close at Christchurch on January 3rd, and will be due in London on February 18th, 1879. A Post Office has been opened at Horrelville, on tho north line, between West Eyreton and Bennett’s. Mails emse at the Head Office, Christchurch, daily at 6 a.m., and at Horrelville daily, at 4 p.m., and arrive at Christchurch daily, at 7.30 p.m. On and after 2nd January prox. there will be a free delivery of correspondence in the districts of St. Albans, Phillipstown, Biugsland, Caledonian road, Cashel street east, Knightstown, and Adding, ton; consequently the Post Offices at those places Will he discontinued, and receiving boxes, to he cleared twice daily, will bo substituted. In order to facilitate the delivery, residents are requested to get their letters addressed as fully as possible. Correspondence for persons who reside beyond the free delivery will, at their request, ho left at any store or house within the bounds of the delivery, SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
