Tararua, Captain Sinclair, from Melbourne via Hobait Town and South, arrived this morning at 10 a.m. She sailed this afternoon for Wellington. The Taupo, s.s., arrived from Northern Ports at 6 a.m. She sails South to-morrow. The Union Company’s s.s. Rotorua, Capt. Carey, arrived at 9.45 a.m. yesterday. Reports leaving at at 3 35 p.m. on Thursday, and having fine weather up the coast. The Rotorua landed 50 and loaded 150 tons cargo at the Steamers’ Wharf, and sailed last night for Sydney, via Wellington, East Coast, and Auckland, crowded with passengers, carrying no less than 102 in the saloon alone. She took the outward San Francisco mail. Mr C. W. Tr’.ner’s recent purchase, the barque Examiner, commanded by Captain Scoullar, late of the Joliba, with a cargo of coal for Mr C. W. Turner, arrived at 4 a.m. yesterday, from Sydney. She reports leaving on November 2drd with easterly weather, which held 36 hours, when it suddenly shifted to N.W., and blew strong, raising a tremendous sea. Twelve hours later the wind again went round to the eastward, and held so till Friday last, when thick weather and variable winds were experienced till Cape Farewell was sighted on Wednesday. Had westerly breeze through the Straits, and northerly thence down the coast, arriving off Kaikoura Peninsula same night. Thence light N.N.B. winds to arrival as above. The brig Vision has sailed for Lyttelton, via Thames, with a cargo of timber. ARRIVAL OF THE OPAWA FROM LONDON. The Opawa, from London, arrived this morning. AH is well aboard. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
