GAOL RETURNS.

The number of prisoners in confinement in the gaols at Lyttelton, Addington, and Timaru on November 30th was 97, 49, and 21 respectively. During the month three debtors, of whom one was discharged, were in prison at Addington, and one, who was discharged before the end of the month, at Timaru. The following table shows the number of prisoners in gaol at the end of each month for the last six months :

The number of prisoners discharged from the three gaols during the same period was 611.
