MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
LYTTELTON. Tuesday, December 3. [Before W. Donald, Esq , R.M., and T. H. Potts, Esq., J.P.] Drunkenness. —James Law, charged with the above offence, was dismissed with a caution ; John Abbott, for a similar offence, was fined 10s. „ Illegally on Premises.—Charles Smith, charged with being illegally on the premises of W. Riach, was remanded until to-morrow. QUARTERLY LICENSING MEETING—LYTTELTON DISTRICT. Tuesday, December 3. [Before W. Donald, Esq., chairman, Messrs T. H. Potts, H. R. Webb, and J. T. Rouse, Esqs., Commissioners.] Patrick Cain, licensee of the Harp of Erin, appeared to answer to a complaint lodged by the police against his holding a license on account of his drunkenness and continued disagreement with his family. Mr Nalder appeared for Cain. The Court, after hearing the evidence of Sergeant-Major O’Grady and some of the police, unanimously agreed to cancel the license.
