Sailed—November 28. Saucy Kate, schooner, 41 tons, McKenzie, for Timarn. Cull and Graham, agents. Mr C. W. Tnrner's barque Bells arrived from Newcastle this morning after a thirteen days' ipassage. The Southern Cross, s.s., arrived at 8 a.m. to-day from Auckland via East Coast and Wellington. As she has much cargo to discharge and load, she will not sail on return trip north till Saturday, The Saucy Kate sailed for Timaru to-day and the Australian Sovereign cleared for Newcastle. The Iris cleared for Newcastle yesterday. The new steam-tug Ly ttelton was berthed yesterday, at the Breastwork to unship her mainmast, and was then moored alongside the Steamers' wharf. She will be ready for work in a fortnight, and her engines are now being over-hauled. Owing to the N.W. wind it was impossible to shift vessels to and from the wharves yesterday. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Arrivals—Thomas and Henry, from Kaipara; Wanaka, from Lyttelton. Sailed—Ringarooma, for the Bluff; Albion, for Lyttelton, at 7.55 p.m. Wellington, November 28. Sailed, noon—Easby for South. Passengers—Mrs Mills and original. POST OFFICE NOTICES Mails close at the Chief Post Offioe for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations : FEIDAY, NOVEMBER 29. For Otago, per Easby, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; late letter box, guard's, van, 2.40 p.m. traiu. For Northern ports, per Albion, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; late letter box, guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30. For Northern ports, per Southern Cross, at 11.30 a.m., late fee letters, 11.50 a.m. late letter box, guard's van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Otago, per Rotoma, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; late letter box, guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Kaikoura and Wellington, per Tni, at 4.45 p.m.; late letter box, guard's van, must not be used for Tui's mails. The next mail outwards, via San Francisco, closes at Christchurch on Friday, December 6th. This mail is dne in London on January 21st, 1879. The next outward English mails, via Suez and Briudisi, will close at Christchurch on Tuesday, December 17th. The mail via Southampton will be due in London on February 17th, and via Brindisi on February 10th, 1879. An extra mail for Lyttelton now closes at this office daily at 2 p.m. SYDNEY J.
