It is stated that a movement is on foot for the establishment of a new land and investment company on a similar basis to the present Wellington Trust, Loan and Investment Company. The proposed capital is £ 100,000. The operations of the association would be confined chiefly to the Wellington provincial district. Judge Harvey gave judgment to-day, in the case of Daniels v. Hayes. He upheld the judgment of the Warden’s Court, and awarded a third share in Hayes’ claim to the plaintiffs. It is said that Major Derrom intends to apply to the Defence Minister to convert the Victoria Company into an Artillery corps. Messrs Conyers and Lawson are getting satisfactorily through their business hero. To-day they went to Waikato to inspect the Ohaupo-Te Awamutu railway extension. It is stated here that Guthrie, Larnach and Co. are in treaty for the Whangapoua mills, bushes, &c., from Messrs Harris, and celebrated for immense litigation in the case Mohi v Craig some years ago. Oamaru, November 22.

The conference of delegates re National Association meets to-morrow at 10 o’clock. _lt is probable that the association will be established, having its head quarters in Christchurch, but it is not likely that a show will take place next year. Dunedin, November 22. One Pullar, while under the influence of drink, jumped into the Olutha river, and was carried down to the bridge, a distance of eight chains, by the current.
