CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the Globe

Sir, —In yesterday's " Globe" there was a local statirg that I was to give n ball in the Oddfellows' Hall last night. I suppose the statement was the result of a mistake; but, as it is likely to injure my professional reputation, I write to ask if you will kindly correct the error. The ball in question was given by Mr H. Gardiner. Yours, &c. J. T. M. SMITH.

[The information we had was given by a person who represented himself as authorised by Mr Smith.—Ed. Globe.]
