The Senior Pair-oar races took place on Saturday afternoon, for prizes given by Mr Hennah, the course being about one mile, from Pratt's to Willows. Mr D. Petrie, vice-commo-dore, acted as btarter. The weather was all that could be desired by boating men, and tho l-aces were well contested. First Heat—Scylla, south bank —S. C. Keateven, stroke; F. D. Kesteven, bow ; E. Manning, cox 1 Syren, north bank—W. J. Jones, stroke; A. Searell, bow ; Dunnage, cox 2 Both boat 3 got well away together, and shortly afterwards the Scylla forged gradually ahead. Hounding Cowlishaw's corner she was fully a length in front. '1 ho crew of the Syren then spurted and gradually gained on the leading boat but coming through tho bridge the bow was Peered too close and thereby fouled. This spoilt their chance, and though they pulled plnckily they had to be contented by coming in a length behind the Scylla. Second Heat-Scylla, south bank-A. H. N. Campbell, stroke ; K. K. Mansfield, bow ; Dunnage, cox ••■ ••• •■• 1 Syren, north bank—,l. Smith, stroke: a. Keith, bow; Wolelge, cox. 2 The Scylla was first to catch the water and went away at a spurt, soon getting a clear length in front. This they gradually increased notwithstanding the plucky efforts of the syren's crew to overtake them, but they had to content themselves with a stern chase aa the Scylla came in a. winner by throe lengths.

Final Heat—Scylla, south bank—B. C. Kesteven, (stroke; F. D. Kesteven, bow; E. Manning, cox •■• 1 Syren, noith bank—A. H. N. Campbell, R. E. Mansfie.d, bow ; Dannage, cox. ... 2 The boats got away well, bur. the hcylla very soon had a slight le.id. Bounding Cowlishaw's she was a length and a half in front, but Camp, bell spurting soon reduced the distance. The ScylU passed under the bridge a length in front, and although the Syren's crew spurted and pulled gamely they could not overtake the Scylla, which won by two lengths. The club's next races will take place on Saturday, 23rd instant, being the four-oar races for Commodore's prize ; distance, two miles, for which four crews have already entered.
