POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations :- uEgi)ATtOCTOBER22 Moils per Arawata will close as under:— For United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi (specially addressed letters only), India, China, and the East, Aden, Mauritius, Cape of Good Hope, Mediterranean ports, &c, &<?., at 1.-0 p.m.; late letters, 1.40 p.m. For Otago and Australian colonies, at 1.20 p.m.; late letters, 1.40 a.m. For Money orders, registered letters, newspapers, and i.ook packets, at 12 noon. Late letters, bearing an additional single rate of postage, can be posted in the guard's van, Christchurch railway station, by 2.40 p.m. tram. The mails via Brindisi will be due at London on December 16th, and via Southampton on December 23rd. , For Otago and Akaroa, per Hawea, at 11.80 a.m.; late letters, 11.50 a.m.; railway station, 12.10 p.ni train. The next English mail via San Francisco will leave Lyttelton on November 6th, and is due at London on December 24th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
