THE SORROWS OF WILLOW BANK.
To the Editor of the Globe. Sir, —Please allow a few of your pilrong residing in Restell's paddock, Willow Bank, a small space. Sir, a few years ago we bought sections of land, built dwellings, and located ourselves in this district, being led to believe we should some day have a tzooA road. We paid rates to the Road Board, and are now paying to the Borough of Sydenham. Now, Sir, the Mayor and Council of Sydenham entirely refuse to make us a road unless we make a sacrifice of 3ft. 6in. from off our properties upon each side of the road. The present width of space is 33ft , and the space they require is 40ft. Now, Sir, as we knew nothing about this when we bought the land, we are not to blame, and we will not submit to this monstrous proposal without any compensation. Sir, we consider that the Mayor and Conned of Sydenham are treating us very unjustly, and if step 3 are not taken soon to make the road and give us drainage we must make an appeal to the Board of Health, for we are in danger of typhoid fever through stagnant water. Please insert this, and you will oblige, Yours respectfully, THE RESIDENTS IN WILLOW BANK. October 10th, 187 S.
