Messrs Reynolds, Johnson, Lahmann, Peacock, Chamberlin Jjand Sir D. Bell supported the Bill. Messrs Buckley, Fraser, Waterhouse, Hall, and Hart -opposed it. The second reading of the Disqualification Bill was carried on division by 9 to 6. The Bill was committed, and progress reported. The Council rose at 1.15 a.m. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. TfICESDAY, OCTOBEB 17. sh'EEP BILj.. The House last night continued in committee on the Sheep Bill. The Bill passed through committee all but the schedules when progress was reported. SUPPLY, On the question that the House go into Committee of Supply on the estimates, Mr Sutton attacked the Native Minister and his policy in a slroug speech, quoting amusing extracts from newspaper reports included iu the official Parliamentary paper relative to the meetings between the Premier, Tawhiao and Rcwi. Mr Sutton contended that no improvement had been effected in the | relations between the two races, and that the Government was withdrawing land from settlement. The Native Ministee, in reply, made a strong personal attack on Mr Sutton and his relations to Native land transactions in Hawke's Bay. In conclusion, Mr Sheehan promised to bring down a Native Lands Bill
for second reading, and discussion on the whole Native policy of the Government. Mr Fox said ho would accept that opportunity of criticising the Native policy. The House then went into Committee of Supply, when the items Public Domains and Buildings, Crown Lands Survey, and Goldfields were passed without reduction, and the House adjourned at twenty minutes past three.
