POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations : SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19. For Otago, per Ladybird, at 11,30 a.m.; late letters, 11.50 a.m.; railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. MONDAY, OCTOBER 21. For Northern Ports, per Taupo, at 3.15 p.m.; late letters, 3.35 p.m. railway station, 4 p.m, train. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22. Mails per Arawata will close as under:— For United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi (specially addressed letters only), India, China, and the East; Aden, Mauritius, Cape of Good Hope, Mediterranean ports, &c., &c,, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m. For Otago and Australian colonies, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m. For Money orders, registered letters, newspapers, and i ook packets, at 10 a.m. Late letters, bearing an additional single rate of postage, can be posted in the guard’s van, Christchurch railway station, by 12.10 p.m. train. The mails via Brindisi will be due at London on December 16th, and via Southampton on December 23rd. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
