MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday, October 17. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunk and Disorderly.—Mary Kennedy admitted the offence, and was fined 60s, with a caution as to her future behaviour. John Hale, remanded from October Bth for medical treatment, was again brought up, charged with drunkenness and disorderly conduct calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. The offence was committed in the Prince of Wales Hotel, where accused had behaved in such an extraordinary manner as to induce the belief that he was not in his right mind. He was now reported convalescent. Sergeant Morioo informed the Bench that the revolver, watch guard, and three watches found upon the accused when arrested were his property, the latter having been purchased by him at a pawnbroker’s when he was drunk. His Worship, having warned the accused of the consequences which would ensue if he persisted in drinking, discharged him without the imposition of a fine.

LYTTELTON. Thursday, Octobeb 17. [Before W. Donald, Esq., E.M.] Drunkenness.—W. Bracken, for above offence, was fined 10s, or in default fortyeight hours. Robert Murray, who had been out on bail, was also charged with drunkenness. As he appeared in Court in a state of intoxication, he was ordered to be locked up till to-morrow.
