Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17. For Otago and the Australian Colonies, per Al'lambra, at 11.30 a.m.; late letters, 11.50 a.m.; railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern ports and Chatham Islands, per Ladybird, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.40 p.m. train. For Otago, per Wakatipu, at 3.15 p.m. ; late '■'letters, 3.35 p.m.; railway station, 4 p.m. train. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, For Kaikoura and Wellington, per Tui, at 3.15 ■ p.m.; late letters, 3.35 p.m. railway station, 4 p.m. " train. The next English mail, via Southampton and Brindisi, will close at Christchurch on or about Tuesday, October 22nd, BFDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
