MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Thubsday, October 3. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. —Four first offenders were each fined sa. Thomas Brown, for the same offence, not being the first time, was fined 10s. Absent from Ship. —Ah Jinjand Eledool, two Asiatic seamen, were charged with being deserters from the brigantine Akbar. On the application of Mr Inspector Hickson, they were remanded to Lyttelton. Larceny from a Dwelling. —Lawrence Dennis was charged with stealing a cash-box, containing about £l3, the property of Thomas Patrick. On the application of Mr Inspector Hickson, the prisonerjwas remanded until to-morrow morning, for the necessary witnesses to be subpeenaed. LYTTELTON. Thursday, October 3. [Before W, Donald, Esq , R.M.] Drunkenness —Michael Jordan and Percy Scott, for this offence, were each fined 10s. Neglecting to prvoide Support for Wife and Family.- John Durham was charged by his wife with the above. The case had been allowed to stand over for a fortnight to permit of some arrangement being made. The Bench dismissed the case after administering a severe caution to defendant.
