THE AKAROA TRUST BILL.
[Bx Telegraph.] fFSOir OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Akaroa, September 20. The intelligence from Wellington that the Waste Lands committee of the Legislative Council have so altered the Akaroa Railway Bill that its promoters advise its being shelved, has caused quite a sensation here. A public meeting was held this afternoon, at the request of Mr Latter, the chairman of the Trust, under the presidency of the Mayor, when the following resolution was carried unanimously:—“That this meeting learns with surprise that the Hailway Bill has met with such severe opposition in committee, that to appropriate the endowments of the Trust towards making the line from Lincoln to Little River would be, in the opinion of this meeting, unfair, and seriously prejudicial to the interests of the district.”
