A numerously attended meeting was held at South Dunedin last night to consider a proposal to amalgamate South Dunedin, St. Hilda, and Cavorsham municipalities, A committee was appointed to consider the proposal and report to another public meeting to be held ten days hence. A resolution was also carried asking the Government to amend

the Municipal Corporations Act so as to admit of the amalgamation being effected. The Caversham Council last night decided that it was advisable that tramways should be extended from Dunedin to Caversham.

The students of Otago University have passed a resolution disapproving of Judge Bathgate’s proposal to dissociate the Otago University from that of New Zealand.
